it is true there was a seclusion orders since
Yuan Dynasty 1206-1368 (the dynasty buillt by Kublai Khan, son of Genghis Khan) (disctete16 years between 1292-1322)
also in
Ming Dynasty 1386-1644 ( limited open to restrict milltary technolgy flowing into Japan)
and mainly in
Qin Dynasty 1616-1911 (to block opium trading from UK, later on the Opium commission was started by US in Shanghai Peace hotel)
only in this time, China lost the chance to get positive influence from europa. so this time the order really did work as the blocking.also this appear in other asia countries (from 1633 to 1854 in Japan)
it is my hobby to read chinese history,i would be happy to discuss with you about that. Also europe history, especially germany part.
